My 5 year old granddaughter came in and reminded me that we are leaving the day after tomorrow and then she gets the house. When I asked if she wanted us to leave tonight she said YES. Why? She wants to take a bath! Their current rental only has a shower and she wants a bath! Covid has altered their building progress a few times but they are finally in the home stretch of building their dream home and homestead. I'm so excited for them.
This venture will be an adjustment for all of us. Glen and I will miss all the kids and grand kids and be missed by all of them, which in my mind and heart is the hardest part to deal with. All the anticipation, planning, excitement for the trip is counter balanced with all the fear and anxiety of being away from home. I'm so thankful for todays technology and ability to connect virtually with them daily but, it can't replace the warm hugs and kisses of a grandchild running through the door and throwing their arms around you in excitement to be with you. I plan to enjoy each day of our venture but be sure I'll be counting down the days to hold my littles again.
We are doing our last minute packing and trying to figure out how to fill every nook and cranny of the truck and still be comfortable. We have packed and repacked, taken away and prioritized. We rethought taking food down with us. We will get to the boat, evaluate the space available and then go shopping. All is good!
Don't stress! LOL.
Hope your journey goes well! - Dan and Janet
