Another early morning, 5:25 a.m. departure. We anticipated some rockin and rollin this morning and we got it. A bit more than comfortable for us but Saunter sailed through as if it were nothing. Started out 2-3', built to 4-5' with occasional 8-10'. The girls were not happy but we got them as comfortable as possible and we settled in for a long day. But it only lasted for about 3 hours when the waves subsided to just smooth swells that were still rolling us as they approached on our port beam.
At 10:00 we crossed back into the United States and our beautiful state of Michigan. It felt really good to be this close to home.
By 3:00 we arrived in Presque Isle and were met by our friends, Barry and Cindy who drove up from Alpena to welcome us home and take us to dinner at Woody's on Grand Lake. We visited onboard as Glen and I did our normal arrival routines with the boat and dogs. Jason (brother-in-law) stopped by to say hi. This is his home port for his fishing charter business. It felt good to see family and friends.
Presque Isle Harbor is a beautiful marina with clear, clean water, manicured grounds and clean facilities.
After dinner and a little sightseeing we returned to Saunter to take care of the girls needs and walk over to get ice cream before turning in.
