Leg #52, June 10, 2022, Lock #18 to Lock #19, Peterborough

Only one lock today but a 35-mile gain. Travel was sunny with light wind. Through Rice Lake the weeds just under the water’s surface was setting off our depth sounder. ALWAYS make the heart skip a beat.

Scott's Mill Lock 19 (8' lift). This is one of the oldest locks (1983) on the system and the last remaining limestone lock from the original construction. As you can see, some major renovations are happening.

We stayed at Peterborough Marina and enjoyed the comforts of power, water, laundry and on land facilities. Nice Marina but we fought a very strong current going in due to dams being released to lower water levels and of course the wind.

Mike washed down Saunter as soon as we hooked up the water. She was looking pretty rough.

In the evening Glen and Mike visited with neighbors and then we listened to a local restaurant’s blues band from the top of Saunter while having happy hour.

Peterborough was a nice stop for the night. Fun times.
