Leg #41, May 28, 2022, Newburgh to Kingston, NY

Newburgh was a nice little town but docks are a bit rough.

We departed at 7:00 with tons of debris in the water. It was rainy and hazy but calm. What a beautiful day. Again, the Hudson River is fabulous. Green, mountainous and speckled with charming little towns along its coastline. Kingston being one of them.

We are in Kingston with Le Cheile but different marinas. They were in town at the Maritime Museum Marina, but because we decided to stay at Liberty Landing for an additional day, we had to change this marinas reservation and they didn't have availability for today. We were across the creek at a little redneck marina with great people and they get an A+ for effort. They had a great little shack of a restaurant with outside only dinning which was charming in its own right. When we went up and sat down, we realized it was a BYOB, so we confirmed with the 1 waitress and Glen quickly walked down to the boat, made us a couple of drinks and brought them back to the table. More places should allow this. There was one chef responsible for a surprisingly nice menu. We were both very pleased with our dinner. This is a prime example of “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. There was supposed to be a band coming in, but it rained most of the day which cancelled the band and kept everyone on their boats for the better part of the day. We did meet Frank, a financial consultant that lives aboard his 54’ Carver and was in his home slip directly across from us. We have been meeting so many people from every walk of life and many different cultures and ethnicities.

Early to bed in prep for tomorrow’s journey to New Baltimore. I heard a repeated saying early on in this trip that 9:00 is a Loopers mid-night. Yep. It definitely is!

Catch you on the next Leg!

I didn't realize the Hudson river was that large. Wow.
