Leg #38, May 24, 2022, Atlantic City to Brielle, NJ (Hoffman's in the Manasquan Inlet)

We left Atlantic City at 7:00 a.m. with light rain and high seas. It was a rough 7 hours of travel. Glen described most of the day as being in a cement mixer. I’m telling you, getting through the inlets takes time off my life.

Not much to see as we were again offshore for a couple of miles and to rough for photo taking. However, just outside the Barnegat Inlet, we did see a whale breach out of the water (all but it’s tail) and slam back down on its side. I’m not sure what type of whale it was as it happened so fast.

We arrived Hoffman’s in Brielle, NJ. The tide was coming in strong at the Manasquan Inlet. I really do not like Inlets! But we made it through and although I was told we did not have to go to the marina’s facility on the east side of the rail bridge, that exactly where they put us. Oh well, just another surprise.

Hoffman’s is a great marina. Mostly geared to sport fishers. But hold on to your wallet! It’s the most expensive marina we have been to. Even more so than Liberty Landing where it is expected. The Wi-Fi was lacking, the pool was closed, and the train ran late and started around 4:00 a.m. and the electric hook up was double any other marina. Really not a place for transients. Feels like price gouging for sure.
