Got underway bright and early and moving against the current until we reached the Delaware Bay. Seas were calm with fog and haze. We had to keep watch for debris in the water as upstream dams were opened, releasing tons of trash in the waterway. We dodged, logs, telephone poles, lumber, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, pallets, tires (with rims), balloons and so much more. It was quite stressful because you never know what is just below the surface.
The Delaware Bay had the same debris and fog issues but the current was with us.
We got to Cape May only to discover I thought I booked us at one marina, and we were actually at another, less desirable one. Very disappointing because everyone we were traveling with went to South Jersey Marina. But we connected with people there as well and traveled with Pura Vita and Skip Stone for a few days. We will connect with the others along the journey, I’m sure.
Cape May
We did not leave the boat except for walks with the girls along a highway embankment and to have docktails on Pura Vita with three other couples. I’m sure Cape May is a fun place to be but Utsch’s Marina was just a bit to much of a walk to town for the one night we would be there.
Dinner on board and plans for an early departure from Cape May, Utsch’s Marina. Plans were made to travel with Pura Vita and Skip Stone to Atlantic City.
