One more state. Our trip began at 6:50 a.m. It was a bit windy when we returned to the Chesapeake with 2’ waves, 20 mph wind and 65 degrees. We were traveling with our sister-ship Panacea who was at a different marina in Deltaville. By 1:00 seas were flat with 5 mph wind but still only 68 degrees.
It was another great day to be on the Chesapeake. We passed lighthouses, ships and a restricted area and base used for military maneuvers and target bombing practices (picture of target in the middle of the bay). We saw a few fighter jets overhead but no bombing practice.
It was a longer day as wind and current was on the bow. We were underway for 7 hours, 45 minutes, arriving at 2:30 p.m. to Spring Cove Marina. We topped off our diesel with 200 gallons since we’ve heard rumors of shortages.
Spring Cove Marina is nestled in a beautifully wooded area at the end of a Back Creek off of the Patuxent River, with many other marinas. We took Saunter camping for a night. Our slip was wooded with a picnic table and grill, and grass for the girls. It felt just like camping.
We concluded our evening with dinner at the Pier. A large restaurant that actually sits on a pier over the Patuxent River. It was a bit of a walk to get there but highly recommended for their crab cakes. We were not disappointed at all. So, good!

Solomons Island, MD is someplace we will return to!
