Leg #18, April 21, 2022, St. Simmons Island to Richmond Hills, GA

Beautiful day on the water. Light winds and deep water made for a much-needed relaxing trip. We wound our way through miles and miles of what appeared to be wheat fields.

We arrived by 3:00 p.m. to Richmond Hills Marina. A RUSTIC Marina to be frank. But so much character. Complete with floating docks made of wood sections and blue plastic barrels to float it. It rolled, twisted, and bucked under your every step. The marina was exactly what I thought it would be. Rustic! Absolutely, no frills attached. Richard, the Harbor Master is a gruff on the outside kind of older man, but really, he’s just a good ole southern boy. The town of Richmond Hills is about 10 miles away. Just a bit far, even for bikes.

We met Bob and Diane from SoulMate. We’ve seen them in other locations but never connected until tonight. They are very nice people. We all had an excellent dinner together at Marker 107 which was surprisingly very nice and the only thing here at the marina. SoulMate will also be going to Thunderbolt tomorrow. We won’t travel together, as they cruise a bit faster in their 60’ Ocean Alexander.

All in all, Richmond Hills is a diamond in the rough. We probably won't go back but we truly enjoyed the experience.

Not many of my photos were salvageable. But here's a few:

The rivers wound through marsh fields, making the boats appear to be on land. Well actually some are. OOps!
