Leg #10 - St. Lucie/Stuart to Fort Pierce, FL.

We are officially on the East Coast and moving North. That feels really good. Yesterdays trip went really smooth. Again, shallow water and shoaling (see photo of sandpipers). It's a scary thing not know what is under you. We would be at 9' and all of a sudden our depth sounder would alarm us. It will go off at 6', we draw 5'. Sometimes it would show we were in 2'. But we were still moving

forward. If the boat in front of us was kicking up anything from the bottom our sounder would send false alarms but, even false alarms are terrifying. I was at the helm while Glen worked. The wind was determined to blow me out of the channel but I kept us on track, for the most part. I guess I had to make an occasional adjustment.

We arrived at Fort Pierce City Marina about 12:30. Filled up the tanks with 360 gallons of diesel and then allowed the wind to blow us across the marina channel up against our slip. Across from the gas dock but not on it, lol. A fun location to people/boat watch.

As soon as we tied up a storm that appeared it was going to go around us, changed it's course and came straight at us with so much might. Seeing the change in course Glen put extra lines on the boat. Praise God for his insight. It's amazing how much force these docks can take. Another somewhat terrifying moment of the day/week. Straight winds came right out of the North, hitting the starboard side of the boat at 49 mph with a wall of rain. You could feel the amount of pull the boat was having on the dock and I wasn't very confident it was going to hold and was contemplating my escape. My video file won't upload so ya'll are gonna have to take my word for it. It was bad! Definitely won't be anywhere south during hurricane season.

We decided to take an extra day here to catch up and relax. I would definitely recommend Fort Pierce City Marina if any of you will be passing through.
