April 10, 2022 - Leg #12 Melbourne to Titusville, FL.

We departed Melbourne at 8:15 a.m. Sunny skies, some chop, lots of fixed bridges with plenty of clearance. Enjoying the planned 5-hour cruise.

What a difference a day makes. Calm seas, clear skies, low wind. What a contrast to other legs of this trip. We came into Titusville City Marina without issue. Glen put Saunter’s stern right where it needed to go, and I had all the fenders right where they needed to be. We looked like we knew what we were doing.

The trip up the Indian River wasn’t as scenic as yesterday’s. It was beautiful but more small towns lined the coast and the water was deeper at an average of about 11 feet (in the channel). We went by Cocoa Beach (didn’t Major Nelson live in Cocoa Beach?) We passed through Cape Canaveral and saw the NASA launch pad sitting on one of the barrier islands.

The 5 hours passed quickly, and we arrived in Titusville about 1:30 p.m. Titusville is another quaint marina within walking distant of shopping, and a dog park. It has a charming retro appeal, with friendly staff and very nice boater facilities. We decided to stay two night. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING IN TITUSVILLE at the city marina.

Saunter’s sister ship is here and just a few slips away. She is also a 2009 American Tug 41, with a blue hull but gold canvas. Her name is Panacea. Hank and Karen Summers just took ownership a short time ago just as we did. They live in Florida and are doing some east coast travel north. I expect we might run into them along the way.

I've been having a ton of connectivity issues and blogging has been another challenge to overcome. Easier but just as frustrating.
